JoAnn Chambers, Digital Content CreatorAbout JoAnn Chambers

Thank you for visiting my website and considering me for your digital based projects. I thought I would share a little of my background with you so that you feel confident with my services, knowing that I am qualified to complete your project in a timely and efficient manner.

I started just after high school by working in a local newspaper. I gave the company tours to the school children in the area and I became fascinated with the pre-production department. At that time it was called typography and paste up departments. I started to learn more about this process on my own and landed an amazing opportunity with a start up company that was willing to take me on. I started working on the early computer systems for typesetting and loved being able to put all the pieces of the finished projects together. I was a speed typist (120wpm) and several of my next jobs were focused on developing my computer skills and learning typesetting coding for the various types of projects that were being created in the printing and publishing field. I worked on thousands of projects with everything from packaging, newspapers, magazines, advertising to promotional pieces.

As the pre-production technology was evolving, I moved right along with it into what was called Desktop Publishing and loved the increase of flexibility and speed at which we were able to do things on the computer over spending time on the art board pasting up little pieces of text.  At this time I co-owned a very busy production house that supplied graphics, typography and camera work to publishers, agencies, artists and corporations. I ran several shifts of employees and we were one of the busiest graphics/typography firms in the Tampa Bay Florida area.

When the internet was just getting going for the commercial businesses in 1995, I was eager to dive into this new field. It was so exciting to be able to see your finished projects right away. With print production, we rarely saw the finished projects. It was at this time that I started to do freelance work and work from my home base. This was the perfect match for me and I have continued doing this to date. I love working online and I’m a multi-tasker so jumping around the net and connecting elements and sites is one of my passions in this work. I love the different ways in which you can create now and the ability to make changes instantly.

I’m at home in front of my computer and love to develop newer and more interesting projects all the time. With the speed at which new sites and themes and templates are moving, it seems I’ll be a happy camper for some time.

Another one of my passions was always CGI/animation effects and movie intros. I love the animations and creative ways that they relayed the concepts of the movie. Along came desktop publishing for video and I started learning how to put graphics, text and animation together. Initially with Flash and then onto Premiere Pro and After Effects. My husband is a composer/musician and audio has also always been in my wheelhouse. I record vocal tracks for webinars and videos and have become quite good at editing audio and adding effects as needed.

Starting in 2021, I was excited to start working on projects in the metaverse, moving into 3D and virtual worlds. I have been working with a team creating magical spaces to share our art and music. It is unlikely that I’m going to learn how to develop for these platforms, but then again , you never know.

As you can see, I have quite a varied background which enables me to be quite versatile in offering you many different skills for your project. I look forward to talking to you about your project ideas and getting to work with you personally to bring your visions into reality.
